It&#8217;s no different in business, except that this is not a game. This is your livelihood and your ability to impact change in your community, church, home and school. When you own your own business, there&#8217;s not much separation between life and work! That&#8217;s why it&#8217;s so important that you <em>make the shot.</em></p>
<p><span id="more-3567"></span></p>
<p>You&#8217;ve been working on finishing a goal this week that you&#8217;ve been putting off, a goal that if you accomplished it, should be a major cog in your wheel. If you didn&#8217;t, don&#8217;t give up! Just dust yourself off and make more realistic steps to advance on it.</p>
<p>See, that&#8217;s the point. You needed to start somewhere. Now you have a baseline.</p>
<p>If you made it, YAAY! Leave us your comments and encourage someone whose been struggling with a goal, maybe only a choice surrounding that goal, but something that became too big to step out on. Not many people take positive steps and incorporate real changes into their work environments, but that&#8217;s what it takes to morph into the company you&#8217;ve been envisioning.</p>
<p>What did you learn on your journey? Did you give up part way through?</p>
<p>Find out what your halting point was, and go smaller. But keep moving forward.</p>
<p>Did you recognize areas where you learned you needed more education? Great! Did you make steps to get that education, and carve out time to learn what you need to know?</p>
<p>How about your time frame? Was it realistic? Could you have finished with just a little more time? Well, unless you&#8217;re dead, you need to keep going until you&#8217;re done.</p>
<p>I think timing is the most significant thing to consider when you already have a busy company, but want to grow it beyond its limitations. You can&#8217;t afford to NOT do your day-to-day activities.</p>
<p>Unless, of course, that&#8217;s exactly what you need to figure out. Sometimes the changes that have to be implemented are the ones that take us <em>out of a task</em> someone else could be doing better. Yes, I said it. There may be someone in your organization who can do a better job at something you&#8217;ve been doing for years.</p>

<p>Have you been following along with us this week? Monday, we showed you how you could accomplish one goal you&#8217;ve been putting off if you gave yourself a one week deadline to do it, and invited you to go on a journey to learn how to think about that goal. We told you to write it down.</p>
<p>Tuesday we showed you that was actually backward goal setting, a very practical and results-driven method of thinking about your goal. Yesterday was all about having confidence in your decisions, and today we want you to focus on tomorrow&#8217;s end result by reminding you that you made an end-of-workday commitment for TODAY &#8230; uh-oh. <p>Yup, did you get bombarded with distractions as you got to this point? So did everyone else, I promise you!</p>
<p>It&#8217;s okay, this was just a quick run-through of classes we do with people every week, helping them to drill down on what&#8217;s impeding their desired level of success in business.</p>
<p>I asked you if you had something you needed to learn, have you figured out where that information will come from and how to get a hold of it? Have you pushed past doubt and misgivings around behavior modifications that may have to be made?</p>
<p>By the end of the day, you should have your goal down to recognizing its finishing point tomorrow. You&#8217;re going to have to focus on only the key elements involved to get all of today&#8217;s tasks done and still manage a Friday with all of its responsibilities.</p>
<p>We all know about FRIDAYS, believe me!</p>
<p>As your company grows its vision, and you learn the necessary steps to make your vision possible, you&#8217;ll discover that some of your goals are actually only &#8216;tasks.&#8217; That doesn&#8217;t mean they&#8217;re less important, it means they&#8217;re SUPER important to your overall picture. The discipline in thinking and performing &#8216;tasks&#8217; is what will make your company great.</p>
<p>Zoom in, you&#8217;re about to accomplish something you need to do.</p>

<p>Big decisions in business need to be met head on. You don’t have time to dilly-dally while your competition makes the hard decisions. It&#8217;s important to &#8216;take things under advisement&#8217; sure, but when it gets down to it, waiting may just mean you lack the confidence to go forward.</p>
<p>How do you know you&#8217;re waiting for good reason, or just fearful of change?  <span id="more-3545"></span></p>
<ul>
<li>Do you already have necessary information, but &#8216;no time&#8217; to look at it?</li>
<li>Have you heard this advice several times, but always find a way to ignore it?</li>
<li>Is a small internal voice telling you that your choice really comes down to waiting, or choosing to lose?</li>
<li>Does the choice in front of you hinge on behavior modification that you just don&#8217;t want to deal with?</li>
</ul>
<p>Here&#8217;s good news: the issue is much smaller than you think it is! Take fear off the table so you can make an intelligent decision. Fear immobilizes and impedes, it <strong>never</strong> <em>helps</em> you decide. (Especially in business!)</p>
<p>Now, look at your situation with more objectivity:</p>
<ul>
<li>Read or learn what you&#8217;ve been presented with NOW. Good decisions are informed decisions. You don&#8217;t know what you don&#8217;t know.</li>
<li>Time is not, I repeat &#8211; not &#8211; on your side. If people you trust have been telling you to get moving, quit making excuses. If you hear something once, you have the right to ignore it. If you hear something twice, you <strong>still</strong> have the right to ignore it &#8211; but you&#8217;d better pay attention. If you hear that same thing from three different sources you trust, get off your butt and move already.</li>
<li>Your great ideas for business growth are only good implemented. Someone, somewhere, will have that very same idea &#8211; and make it work. Thorough evaluation is necessary, but keep your perspective. Don&#8217;t shut down, waiting for the answer to drop out of the sky. It won&#8217;t.</li>
<li>Most people dwell on the difficulty of behavior modification. The truth is, the other side of behavior modification is often the transformation that has to occur for the butterfly to emerge. Flying is very different from crawling, and eating leaves. The process of change is bound to feel different, too.</li>
</ul>

It&#8217;s no different in business.</p>
<p>The real choice is, will you intentionally adapt for your company&#8217;s good, or through lack of action develop a failure mindset &#8211; never expecting bigger things to happen and afraid of making hard choices?</p>
<p>Have confidence, moving forward, pressing beyond and stretching to your next success.</p>
<p>Is there a big choice looming over your head?</p>
<p>Do you need to make some smaller choices that you keep putting off?</p>

<p><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-3540" title="What To Do Next" src="http://zerotosixtymarketing.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/where-next370x324-300x262.jpg" alt="What to do next?" width="300" height="262" />Success requires goals, no two ways about it, but it&#8217;s not always about <em>setting each individual goal</em>, as most of us have been taught. We mean well, but choke at the first sign of distraction.  <span id="more-3539"></span></p>
<p>Enough of that kind of thinking can make you more accustomed to defeat than victory. That&#8217;s why people throw goals out the window. You know what? If you&#8217;re thinking like that, you might as well.</p>
<p>Instead of working towards your goal, this week we&#8217;re challenging you to work back from it. On Friday, your task is due. Plan on finishing one of the things that&#8217;s been hanging out in the periphery of your workday that you know you need to do to grow your business &#8230; but have to learn how to do it &#8230; so you NEVER have all the time that it takes to actually learn it and do it. That situation is just too convenient for your brain.</p>
<p>Decide what needs to be done by close of work Thursday for Friday&#8217;s goals to be accomplished. Then figure what needs to be done by Wednesday for Thursday&#8217;s goals to be reasonable and so on. Working backwards will make <em>today&#8217;s objectives</em> crystal clear, and much easier to accomplish.</p>

You may even help another business owner who&#8217;s struggling to manage something, too.
