#1. If my company was higher on the search results page, more people would see me and my company would have more revenue.
My competitors are before me on the search results, so they must make more money than I do, and must get called more than my company gets called. Search results are everything, and if customers can’t find me for my company service and location, I’m losing money. When I look up my terms on computers (not even my own!) I can tell others are ahead of me, and I need to beat them in the results to have a stronger brand and make more money.
Guess what? All of that above is a great big, gigantic MYTH, designed to sell you services that cost exorbitant amounts of money that will never guarantee ONE customer or generate ONE DIME in revenue.
Don’t get me wrong, SEO is NOT a myth. What some marketing companies are trying to sell you in the name of SEO is.
What many self-taught entrepreneurs think SEO is, is a myth.
SEO is how your website is built, careful use of keywords and smart link-building, and many other tweaks and refinements that are on-going to accommodate search engine best practices that continually change.
It IS important to be found easily by the people who will buy from you.
