At its most basic, branding is everything your audience knows about your business. It’s what they associate with you. This encompasses the entire business – everything from how you or your employees answer the phone, how you treat your customer, how you make your customer feel. It also includes how your customer will remember you through your logo and other elements of your visual brand.
Last week I wrote about the benefits of business blogging. Today’s post covers what to do after you hit publish to get more benefit from each blog post.
If you’ve blogged for any length of time, you’ve no doubt come up against the dreaded blank page blues. Unfortunately, it’s not a self-curing condition. No, the first time you give in to it generally becomes the last time you demonstrated any commitment to business blogging at all.
First you wonder what to say. Then you wonder if anyone cares. Finally you wonder if anything you say will make any difference to anyone anyway. After all, the Internet is FULL of blogs! And my inbox is FULL of email newsletters that never get read! What’s the point?
Publishing a blog consistently doesn’t mean you have to create all of the content yourself. Beginning today, we’re adding new voices to our mix with messages I believe you’ll find useful.
There are many reasons for starting a business podcast, as well as many benefits, some you might not have thought of before. A podcast can and should do MUCH more than promote your own business.

We hear so much about big data breaches with major online companies, but many small business owners don’t give their own website security much thought. The one-button installation of WordPress, available through any hosting company, makes starting a business website so easy – too easy. But, if you’re not following good security practices, you can easily leave an open back door for a hacker to access your website.
Why would a hacker bother with your website? Unfortunately, that’s the wrong question. Simply put, for whatever reason, hackers continually try to gain access to ALL business websites. It’s not personal. It’s probably not even a person. But leave a security loophole, and they’re in – and the next thing you know, a customer is calling you asking why there’s advertising for pornography on your home page.
