How To Recognize Comment Spam

May 31, 2011 by Shari Voigt Leave a Comment

Do you know how to recognize comments you should keep versus comment spam? I’ve noticed recently that some of our clients are confused about what should be deleted. Some discard everything without a second thought, some simply ignore them until they have a zillion piled up.  [Read more…] about How To Recognize Comment Spam

Can Directory Listing Hurt You?

May 31, 2011 by Susan Hamilton Leave a Comment

As a matter of fact, not all directories are harmless.

Local Listing Service. It is important to list your business in human-edited directories; we even teach you how to do it correctly yourself. Directories are  a great way to  promote your company, improve your back links and gain exposure.

But watch out.

Some sound good but can suck hundreds of dollars out of your account in the blink of an eye.  [Read more…] about Can Directory Listing Hurt You?

How to Write With ‘Flow’

May 26, 2011 by Susan Hamilton 2 Comments

Ever been to a party and ended up stuck in a corner talking to ‘that’ guy? You remember, the one who drinks too much and starts rambling on and on about nothing you care about? You can’t wait to find a way to get out of that situation, but he has no idea.

Bad copy is the same way. It doesn’t have any idea what the reader wants to know, and repeatedly goes off course, not leading – just rambling.

Your Business Blog Content Is Valuable, Use It

April 6, 2011 by Susan Hamilton Leave a Comment

By now you’ve heard that blogging can help your business. Did you know that your blog content is actually valuable?

The Richardson Copywriter blog.That’s right.

When you post important material on your blog on a regular basis, you build up a valuable archive that will serve you for a very long time.

Blog content is advertising, only it’s not the ad in the newspaper or in a circular. It’s more of a soft-sell, and has enormous potential IF you embrace the system. Everything that you write about your industry, field or niche exposes your understanding of it.

What do most consumers do before they decide to part with their hard-earned money? They take a spin around the Internet.

The determining factor that turns a visitor into a paying customer is NOT your contact page. First, they want to know if you’re the company they need or want.   [Read more…] about Your Business Blog Content Is Valuable, Use It

How To Sell – Persuasive Power

April 4, 2011 by Susan Hamilton Leave a Comment

Is Your Website a ‘Good Sales Guy’ ?

Ever been followed around by a commissioned salesperson at the mall?

Their job is to take care of your every need, and for providing that ‘service’ (used loosely), they will hopefully get a percentage of a percentage of your purchase. It’s in their best interest to make sure you have as many things available to you as cross your mind.

Good Sales Guy.If nothing crosses your mind, they have brilliant additional ideas to invade your senses with.

You know, some do it right …

But others, well … not so much. Have you ever left because you were annoyed? Have you ever turned down their suggestions because they were way too expensive, gaudy, or irrational?

Or worse …

Have you ever refused to re-enter a store because it was obnoxious?

I’m not opposed to a good salesperson doing their job and making well-deserved money at it. I’m simply making an analogy we can all relate to.

Listen, your website is your online store.  [Read more…] about How To Sell – Persuasive Power
