How Much is Too Much Social Activity?

May 2, 2012 by Susan Hamilton Leave a Comment

Search engine results, your site number one.

Every business is unique and different, and so are their social styles. Not everything you see others do will work for your company.

Social activity can’t be ignored, but most small businesses that didn’t grow up in a culture of social online behavior will agree that there isn’t a whole lot of time for chit-chatting in the unknown with whoevers. There’s a business to run.

The superficial benefits to social engagement are obvious:

  • Brand recognition
  • Industry thought leadership
  • Staying current with trends and information

But those reasons aren’t enough to keep you interesting or interested in social activity – they’re kind of flat, aren’t they?

Among the more brow-raising reasons for social engagement, the term ‘social proof’ should have you rethinking social altogether. [Read more…] about How Much is Too Much Social Activity?

How To Set Up a Social Media Profile That Helps Your Brand

March 13, 2012 by Susan Hamilton Leave a Comment

Twitter icon.Wonder how social media works for your company? If you don’t set up a decent profile, it won’t work for you at all.

The first thing to setting up your profiles is to make sure what you add really benefits your brand. We can talk all day about how to manage the Twitterverse, but when it comes down to it, people join these communities to stay involved with people. They go to profiles first for many reasons.

1. To make sure you’re a real person, to make sure you’re not some ‘bot’ that wastes their time,
2. To make sure you have something they want to hear more about.

Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn are three areas where most businesses should have a profile. Each of these areas allows you a small amount of space to share who you are, what you offer, who you work for, and how to get in touch with you to learn more. I suggest you take that one step farther – make sure anyone who is deciding whether or not to follow you knows how you could help them with your products or services. How to Use Twitter For Conferences

March 12, 2012 by Susan Hamilton Leave a Comment

My husband, gotta love him, hasn’t mastered Twitter yet. Like many of you, when he realized it could benefit his speaking engagement, there were too many other things that took precedence. The show had to go on.

Twitter isn’t hard, but it is different on different smartphones and the apps also work a little differently. It looks easy enough, but I suggest reading this letter I sent him first. (Had I known he didn’t ‘get it’ I would have started helping him a long time ago!) I have his permission to post the letter I sent him later that day, so here it is! ~Susan

Don’t Ignore Interest in Pinterest

Noticed that ‘Pin’ option on stuff you read online these days?

When you think of social media, you naturally think of updates. Well, Pinterest takes updating to a whole new level, and as far as I’m concerned is one of the smartest ways to share excellent and unusual products. I can’t imagine what went into mapping out such a big project, but I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall!

Facebook Can Help Your Business

February 24, 2012 by Susan Hamilton Leave a Comment

It’s not unusual for one of us to get pulled aside by our clients, somewhat timidly asking to learn more about Facebook. For those of us who didn’t get turned on by the notion of a public online profile that connects you to everyone you’ve ever known (usually those of us a little older!) Facebook’s continuing changes are overwhelming to keep up with, and the navigation and terminology can be a little confusing.

Connect with Zero To Sixty Marketing on Facebook. The thing is, if you ignore its power and influence when it comes to search results, you’re in for an impossible journey. Your business simply can’t be found online without having a business page.

That’s not to say it’s more important than your website, that would be a backwards way to look at it.

Facebook links to your website when you fill out the profile with all your business information. That link is one of the most important links you can get.

Here’s how you need to look at it:   [Read more…] about Facebook Can Help Your Business

Marketing Specialties Without a Storefront

January 30, 2012 by Susan Hamilton

Roughly around 45% of Zero To Sixty Marketing clients don’t have an actual brick and mortar store to sell their items. Many of our clients offer services from office buildings where they have no intention of actually entertaining clients. Still others depend on event marketing to sell their wares to industry retailers and discriminating customers.

If you operate a business like these, without a storefront where buyers to come to you, making sure your products can be fully appreciated is a challenge. Tangible items may need to be felt, services need to be shown relevant and necessary, and conveying luxury is often the missing element when it comes to being able to convince upscale buyers to purchase.
