How to Promote Your Business Blog Post

May 14, 2019 by Shari Voigt

Last week I wrote about the benefits of business blogging. Today’s post covers what to do after you hit publish to get more benefit from each  blog post.

How to promote your blog post image showing loudspeaker talking to crowd.

Promote Your Post via Social Media

After you’ve hit publish, post a link with a short introduction to your Facebook page. You’ll want to do more than simply say “Read my latest blog post.” Introduce it with a few sentences to give people a reason to click into your article.

Do the same on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Alignable – wherever you have business accounts set up. Some businesses also benefit greatly from creating an image that links back to the blog post on Pinterest and Instagram. I haven’t done much with Pinterest or Instagram for this site, but these networks consistently drive a nice amount of traffic to our RV travel website.

Posting your article to the social networks is not a one and done activity. Ideally, publish a link to one of your blog posts once or twice per week. You’re not limited to new blog posts. Introduce and link out to your older posts too.

Be sure to respond to people who comment, and thank people who share. Help a fellow business owner by engaging on their posts, especially if they’ve taken the time to comment on yours. The more comments a Facebook post receives, the more people see it – improving awareness of your blog and your business.

Promote Your Blog Post via Email

Send an email to your list to let them know about your new business blog post. We use and recommend AWeber for sending out business marketing emails because it’s versatile, easy to use, reasonably priced, and has a free trial available.

One week after sending out your email, open your AWeber dashboard, copy that email to a new draft, tweak the subject line to change it just a bit, and resend to all your subscribers who didn’t open it the first time.

Is there more you can do? Yes, but these are the most critical. Start here.
