Study successful people and you’ll find they have a few things in common.
Some of those things are outside of your comfort zone, and it’s tempting to think to yourself, “Oh, I don’t want to sound like that,” or
“I might annoy someone if I said or did …”
I just want to ask you, who’s running the ship here?
When your ambition and drive take you only so far, it’s time to get over the sandbar.
It might be time to risk annoyance to find out where your strengths truly are. Chances are, you’re simply struggling with something I call ‘defeatest thinking’.
Long before we get close to success in business, our thoughts tell us we’re never going to make it. That’s exactly why successful people have developed the traits you’ve heard about. You gotta fight your mind more than anything else.
Your mind will tell you:
- You don’t have enough money to do what you need to,
- You’re not physically capable of doing what you need to do,
- You don’t known enough to do or say that,
- You’re not prepared to go that direction,
- and on and on it goes.
Here are some disciplines important to master, because in the midst of all that believable negative self-talk, they’ll provide some very necessary back bone.
Memorize these:
- Just running a business is more than 4 out of 5 people ever do.
- Learn everything to teach it to someone else.
- Early to bed and early to rise … yeah, it’s true! Healthy, wealthy, and wise!
- As a service, which you need to recognize you ARE no matter what your business is, you owe people the very best of you in customer service, performance, and recognition of their situation. ‘Go help somebody’ should be your mantra every day!
- You are a spirit, you have a mind, and you live in a body. Take care of them ALL and you’ll be able to do all you need to do.
- Your mind doesn’t determine your success. You have control over your thoughts. Don’t let your thoughts control YOU. Hmmmm …
It sounds a little like the glass half full or half empty argument, and maybe that’s true. But think about it – livin’ large isn’t half empty, is it? It’s not even half full. It’s FULL ON.
